OFFICER ENTRY TRAINING

Officer Entry Training

Navy Reserve Officer training ensures you’re prepared for unique demands at sea and ashore. Training will invest heavily in your personal and professional development to ensure you’re fit to carry out your essential duties.

Duration: Two weeks
Covers: Military fundamentals

The focus of the initial training is to teach you the fundamental skills required of a Navy Officer and develop your management and leadership skills.


Defence Studies Defence Studies
Phase 2: Defence Studies
Location: Distance learning from home
Duration: Self-paced
Covers: Communication, history, Defence studies and more

Given the unique nature of the Reserve service, you will complete the remaining training components via distance learning and a series of two-week residential modules. Here you will continue to learn the basics of how to be a Navy Officer.

Phase 3: Combat survivability, survival at sea and first aid training
Location: HMAS Creswell, Jervis Bay NSW
Duration: Two weeks
Covers: Combat, survival and first aid

Here you’ll learn how to conduct CPR, bandage a snake bite, abandon a ship correctly, plus learn how to deal with threats to your ship and crew. These skills will prepare you for life in the Navy and at sea.

Location: At sea aboard a Navy vessel
Duration: Approximately two weeks
Covers: Processes and activities at sea

The sea familiarisation experience for trainees is an adventure aboard a Navy vessel where the basics of seamanship learnt in the classroom are applied. Trainees become crew members for this period and are involved in all activities at sea.

GENERAL ENTRY SAILOR OR RECRUIT TRAINING

The focus of Navy Reserve Sailor training is to take the strengths and qualities you already possess and build on them. It's an exciting blend of physical training, practical exercises and classroom learning.

The focus of this training is to teach you the fundamental skills required of a Sailor in the Navy Reserve, from swimming to physical fitness, parade training and more.
